Center for Success seeks to empower children and families to live successful lives. We target communities across South East Michigan with demonstrated need for educational and mentoring support for under-resourced students. Our Centers strive to alleviate the adverse effects of underfunded educational systems and expand opportunities for success. The Center for Success engages the community to support underserved children, increasing their prospects for becoming inclusive and productive members of society.

After School Programs

We provide structured after school programming for the length of the school year for elementary and middle school students. Each session includes transportation from partner schools, a nourishing meal, enrichment activities, and a one on one individualized literacy block designed with each students unique literacy needs in mind. Program partners provide opportunities for students to dig deeper into content area curriculum to support all subjects.

Summer Programs

We serve students, who are entering second through fifth grade, by creating individualized interventions based on their literacy needs. Through Summer of Success we connect parents, students, schools, and community partners to enrich the summer experience of our students by instilling routine with rigorous academic support. This program supports students during the summer to guard against the summer slide and allow them to enter next school year with a positive outlook.

Program Partners

Our students and their success is central to our decisions. The Center aspires to bring together those willing to support our students. From program partners to families, our goal is to bring together those who are working to lift up the youth so that through their potential they are compelled to lead us into the next generation. We will continue to partner with like-minded, youth serving organizations to engage our current and future students in various activities that channel their creativity, expose them to unique skill sets, and ignite their passion for education.

AIA Detroit’s Architecture Building Communities: Detroit Program (ABC:D) – A K-8 outreach program partnering AIA, Cranbrook and the Center for Success. Mentors worked with youth to illuminate the planning process behind adaptive reuse, new construction, and urban redevelopment. Students were empowered to craft their own visions for how they’d like to see their community evolve. The program seeks not only to encourage youth to be involved in community engagement, but also to promote the value of STEM education. The funding proposal for the 2018-2019 iteration of this program has already been submitted and would include expanding to additional sites.
